Looking to bring in a tax manager . Would be responsible for state/federal filings and provision. What level out of public could handle that? Or is it best to bring someone in with prior industry experience?

If no industry experience Id imagine you'd want a manager which could still prove not great, a lot of bad eggs unfortunately

There are seniors capable of accomplishing this (assuming no level of final review above this new hire) but I'd think 10-20% at most so you'd more likely end up with a senior needing coaching if going that route. Most managers I’ve worked with did this on a daily basis with the caveat of having that final review buffer with senior managers and or partners.

No can answer this without understanding the size and complexity of your company. There are companies out there for which the provision could be handled by a senior with a few years experience, and companies that would require much more experience and expertise

Fishes need suggestions. I have been put on PIP for bad performance. I am being a part of 6 months project and project is about to complete with backend work done. I took more time for some tasks because of not knowing the technology so they highlighted that and my senior send emails to HR to put me on PIP. What should I do ? Acknowledge PIP ? Or resign? Or let them terminate me so I can claim salary of three months as fnf settlement? Getting confused, please suggest.

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. They then proposed starting out remotely “as soon as possible” in the US as a contractor and then moving abroad to start full time abroad. (Cont)

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Is it a waste of time to try and make a move to big law with such few years of experience?
