looking to potentially switch to a regional IB firm from the big 4 consulting M&A practice...two questions:

The regional firm was me to sign a non-compete..is this a standard practice in IB? If so, am I able to negotiate the duration of this non-compete?
Has anyone in this bowl worked for a regional firm and been able to bring in deals themselves? If so, what was the commission/bonus like?

Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?
