Is it just me, or is making jigs almost as satisfying as making the end product?

I’m the one with the guitar amp side business, and I’ve had to make a half dozen jigs to handle specific parts of each build. And it is tremendously satisfying to make something that renders a perfect, consistent result with 10% of the effort.

I love these beekeeping posts. I love how dynamic the people in consulting are.

You are a better person for building a box joint jig. I ended up just buying the incra because I’m lazy

Not woodworking but the end endeavor. It’s warming up early here and the girls are getting busy.

Question about what to do next. I’ve maxed out everything—401k, HSA, IRA, backdoor Roth 401k. My bills are all paid. I’ll probably make about 16,500 more this year to do stuff with (ie money that isn’t going to taxes or insurance or anything). What should I do with it? Crypto? Set it on fire? Get a hair transplant?

Wanted to share some advice for anyone looking at track saws. I just bought the bare WEN 6.5” unit ($145.29) and paired it with the Powertec guide rail set ($119.89) and came away with a solid setup at a (comparatively) cheap price ($265).

I was considering the Makita ($585) or Dewalt ($790) setups since those are my normal go-to brands, but couldn’t stomach the cost.

Highly recommend it!

Recommendations for a book, website, or YouTube channel for beginner woodworking projects? I have a very good contractor table saw, orbital sander, and a few other basic tools...and would like to tackle a few projects to see if woodworking is something I really enjoy. I have three daughters ages 7, 11, and 13 so projects that could become gifts would be an added bonus.

Anyone here own a saw stop PCS or a Powermatic PM2000? Ive been setting aside money in my woodworking slush fund for a good cabinet saw to replace my contractor saw, and I’m intrigued by the SS’s hotdog sensing technology. Eager to hear opinions from anyone who owns one of the two saws.

Just got commissioned to build a massive dining room table 🤩🤩🤩

Using this as an excuse to pick up a big ‘ol bandsaw, biscuit joiner, moar clamps & a dust collection system! Taking a week off to build the majority of it and then will finish it up in the evenings.

Not that I’ve worn ties much in the last year, but I made this to get a bit more organized. The pegs are actually bolts for door hinges that I cut down. $1.25 for a 4 pack kept this whole thing under $10

PSA: Jet and Powermatic are having supply chain issues. Ordered a jet dust collector in March with an April delivery date. Woodcraft has pushed it back every month and their current best estimate is July 7th (though they are still advertising a June ship date). Just keep that in mind if you have any sense of immediacy around your purchasing needs.
