How is the work life balance in Citi?
Here is the scenario: Have 2 offers from IT MNCs and 1 from Citi. Citi's offer is the highest. Almost 5 lakhs diff in the fixed component. Although money is important, but I am also seeking a little balance with life. I was previously in ZS Associates and to be frank, life was hell. I am not looking to relive that phase again.

^ my belief is that owning your own business provides gratification that working for someone else can't. If you believe in your business it won't feel like work. That said it's risky, hours aren't better and the stress is higher. To each their own but I would go for it.
💯 Happier. May not be if you love living in hotels, working long hours, waking up at 4am on Mondays, and not being around friends/family
Looks like A1 want around to see all the people getting laid off... Only thing risky is staying in your 9-5 job, and yes consulting is a JOB just like any other job out there, and getting laid off when the company does bad and they don't think twice about cutting you lose. I'm 2 years in consulting and have been saving aggressively to get out as quickly as I can and start my own business.. Do it OP. You can always work towards growing your business to the point where you take yourself out of it and have the income.
Working for money is like eating food to take a shit.. You're missing purpose..
The only people who work longer than we do are business owners, especially retail or food. Then add in all the worries that would now be yours. Don't do it!
There's the stability factor that I of course like with consulting. But there's no major upside. Agreed that nothing is ever easy and there's risk. Just trying to figure or what to do to get some freedom from the travel and client grind. I *think* I would have much more satisfaction working on something that is mine despite the longer hours, etc. (shrugs).
Good friend of mine just hopped from a high travel job (not consulting) to owning a record store. 2 months in he loves it.
Follow your dream. Just remember haters gon' hate but perseverance is the key!! Believe in your self and not what others think you should be. You got this!
Build strip centers in low income neighborhoods and have three stores. Pay day loans. Check cashing. Liquor store. All set.
I think we all make money to afford to do things we really want to do with the people we want to do them with. I have been consulting and traveling for 9+ years and just feel like there are more ways to make a buck without all the sacrifice AND with more upside. The risk is there, but feel like the reward of sleeping in your own bed, time with family, having a social life during the week, etc. might win out. Just thinking out loud guys, think I am going through a crisis. Haha.
@accenture2 - did you friend have to take a pay cut?
OP - Agreed. Other thing is that the type of people you work with changes drastically. In corporate consulting, most people are of a similar education level and income level. When you do your own business that's a retail type, you work with and interact with people (customers or clients) of multiple different backgrounds. Many give and takes, but ultimately depends on your personality, appetite for risk, background & taste for lifestyle
I like that D1!
