I’m on the opposite side - new manager, good at deliverables but bad at delegation (maybe also bad at coaching?) :( I’m actually doing at least 70% of the deliverables since the C and SC are too slow with bad quality. Little improvement after coaching. Just easier to do it myself. I feel I’m going to burn out and fail as a manager. I need to learn from your manager.
Delegation is one of the hardest skills to master if you’ve been a SME and crushed deliverables. Think of your time now as an impact multiplier. Teach your team how to fish. Step in and go deep for support when needed, but try to be concise most of the time. Your teammates will rise to the challenge.
Your time is an impact multiplier. Talk the talk, but be able to walk the walk too.
I had a manager like this. It's not that she didn't want to help, it's just that she didn't know how to help. The subject matter went way over her head (it was a new offering for our firm) and so everytime she reviewed a deliverable, she would change something like the spacing or font size lol.
I liked her though, she was out of the way, wasn't always up our ass asking about our whereabouts as long as we got stuff done. One thing I will never understand was how stressed she was for not knowing more, esp when our director grilled her... isn't it easier to educate yourself and stress less?
I don’t really care about my job and I have other priorities in life (kids, etc.). Also finding good seniors and staff to do your job is a part of successful manager traits :)

I’ll clarify. It’s not that I don’t care about my job, it’s the big4 made me dislike my job. I like my industry a lot, as a whole.

I’ve always had to do all the deliverable creation as a consultant. Managers just project manage
