Bain & Company My 13 YO is taking Career and Tech. She is dead set on diving for Michigan. What are her chances of getting hired from MBB with a degree from UM? Or would she need her MBA first? Is a Michigan degree good enough to get you into a top MBA program?

Full-time is more competitive. Whatever led you to not get an invite the first time almost certainly led you to not get it the second
Move onto other things
I mean, I did get an FT offer at the B4/T2 level in a rather competitive city, so I would assume I'm not that hopeless.
If it makes you feel any better.... I was in the exact same boat coming out of my MBA program. Worked at B4/T2 for 2 years, applied to MBBs after some experience under my belt, got interviews from 2 out of the 3.
This is hopeful. Thanks for sharing.
Same! I would love to connect and see where we went wrong
Come on in brother(ette)! The water is fine.
If you want to move over, there will be plenty of opportunities once you are settled into a T2.
I only got an interview with BCG for MBA summer internship. Didn’t get it, ended up at a boutique consultancy.
I got a McKinsey interviews for full time post MBA- didn’t get in, ended up getting into a T2.
A few months into working at the T2, I got a BCG interview easily. I didn’t get in and stayed at the T2.
MBB isn’t for everyone, even if you do get an interview. Appreciate what you have - you’re at a top 5 or top 10 consultancy right now. Pay is excellent, exit opportunities are great.
Yeah… let it go. Probably not a culture fit and would have just led to a painful journey whilst here.
Is the culture really that different from T2/B4 firms?
Are you saying you interviewed already and then Struck out? Or you didn't even interview?

This view that T2/B4 equals loser is a mindset I don't get. Unless your goal was to be partner at MBB, I don't get it. Much easier to be a rock start at the former and much easier to be CTL just because of the luck of the draw at the later. Focus on what you can do with where you are.
Most MBA hires are from summers being offered FT positions; there have always been very few FT hires without summering for MBA positions.
You can always keep trying and there are people who have successfully done so. It’s still hard to get an experienced hire interview and spot, usually your tenure gets reset (you won’t get full credit for your time at T2/B4), and it’s hard for laterals to make it once they are in. Possible and I’ve seen people do it successfully, it’s just more unlikely than likely.
Thank you for the insight. Why are laterals unsuccessful in your view?
I graduated and tried to apply for Bains enterprise Tech team as a consultant and got auto rejected despite working in the enterprise technology space all my life. Did 300+ hours of case prep and still couldn’t get an MBB or T2 interview. Life goes on. Lots of jobs out there that pay better and have WLB.
Yes there is a still a path to lateral over once you have some experience under your belt and (if) the market improves. Focus on crushing it at your T2 for the time being, and be open to the possibility that you can have an enriching experience there as well.
You not getting interviews may be a factor of a few things:
1) Is the business school you go to a major feeder to MBB, or is it a non-target?
2) Did you perform differentially worse during your interactions with MBB recruiters (maybe due to anxiety)?
3) FT recruiting needs at MBB may not be as high this year and so your chances were low to begin with
In any case, if MBB is your ultimate goal I don't think that the door is closed permanently.
1. T20
2. Not really. Didn't form any strong connections, but I don't think I got cut either
3. Makes sense.
If it’s a true T2 your comp should be similar and if you play your cards right you should be able to get similar exists. You’ll most likely have to start over at the post mba year 1 level if you ever lateral (I didn’t have an mba but I came from EY)
It is, and it's a great firm. But I feel the MBB experience can give me more opportunities than otherwise; especially for my goals.
Just moved to MBB from B4
I would ask you - you have offers from B4/T2 why do you still want to apply to MBB?
