It is the base salary plus bonus paid to a Managing Director
Ok to give you a rough figure, MD comp (salary plus bonus) is roughly in the 500-1.5musd range for non group heads these days, with group heads in the 1.15-2.5mm type range.
Vp1 is way off. 500k indeed means zero bonus. A good portion of MDs these days get zero bonus... especially in sales/trading jobs but also in banking jobs. People don't quit as quickly as they used to so they need to be incentivised to go... and maybe my numbers were a tad low but I think they are quite reflective of last year (which was a bad year for comp admittedly)
Average MD comp across the street in 2015 was around $950k; many firms $400-$500k base with bonus as the balance. More "eat what you kill" at boutiques. MDs do not make nearly as much as you think.
In the FO, Probably like a $400-500k base with bonus that's ~100% times the base?
Work at a boutique
Dang child
@BAML1 is factually right. Any of the big recruiting firms have comp reports. Any bulge bracket junior or underperforming MD is making less than $1mm. A non-head BSD ~$2-3mm. Most Bulges will cap at $3mm. Heads of large groups maybe go up $6mm. Outside of that, only Centerview et al are making "old school $" (~$10mm). This is not the '80s. MDs are not retiring young which is creating a huge problem for Director level bankers -- just look around
Thanks. That is pretty terrible in NYC.
That's not even close to right MS? What MDs do you have that make $500k all in? I made that an an associate
@associate2, what do you do?
I don't think I'm out of the norm for a boutique though. Lazards not a boutique
MD comp is typically around $500K base, $1-2m bonus if you're a low performer // good performer $5-10m++
Banking associate
2m bonus for a low performer? Ok maybe I won't quit then
My bosses were 1 to 3m and this goes from junior md to very senior md
"Big Swinging Dick"... one of the most legendary terms in Wall Street. Do you guys know how to Google?
You're a banker at a boutique? Or trader
That's what I've heard as well Vp 1
@Associate2 hire me
