Met with my Director today and he told me that he will be excluding me from a M/SM meetings (we split it by fed/international/SALT here) because I “technically” report to a SM. Although there is only one reporting from each function, I was the only M who was excluded. Should I be concerned about this? In my two years of being here I’ve gone from reporting to VP>this Director>now this SM. I feel that I’m being pushed down while others are being pushed up. Reviews have been average and I’m a M2/3

Yeah that doesn’t sound good. You are a Manager and should be included in M/SM meetings regardless of who you are reporting to, otherwise they should change who you are reporting to instead of excluding you. My advise is to not sleep on it and speak to your coach and other leaders at your firm.

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? I’m so burnt out by big law and this seems like an awesome opportunity to help shape a newish company. Any tips on how to figure out if this is the right move for me?

When is the best time to leave and go to another big4? I am at PwC and I knew the reputation they had and Some people said It may not be for me because of it. Ive been here a year and I feel as there right. My busy season is starting and I want to leave (not just because of my team) but as some of you may know getting along with the people you work with is a big part of wanting to stay at your job. I want to try to quit end of December and hoping to start a new position February.

I recently got a job in public accounting firm (coming from industry). How do I improve my speed when doing clients’ work? I’m generally pretty careful and trying to find out some stuff before asking manager, but I know couple of my coworkers don’t really spend that much time and let managers figure them out.
