Honest question: Why do people do Consulting when Big Tech offers higher TC, zero travel and often times more meaningful work?

Hello, I have 4 years of experience between Financial decision support and pricing. However, I feel like my experience is too narrowed to how my current company operates. I am looking to pivot into consulting at one of the big4 ( for ~2-3 years)or any other consulting firm to have a well rounded experience that could be applicable to any industry. Any advices ?or thoughts ?

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years. I am considering staying at the firm but trying to get trial experience through side Pro Bono work. Thoughts?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. Tax senior with CPA at small firm. Best way to get to Big 4 audit? (LA or OC) Went to non-target so little to no alumni at B4. I don’t mind the switch to a lower title since audit was always my preference and was never a fan of tax (stayed local for family).
