How nice for you to be able to have the luxury and ability to not chase the higher pay and be among “smart people”. Some of us have built in strikes i.e. disparity in pay, being a minority in a field that still has only 27% leadership of women for a progressive company or corporate culture, what about those that have more experience or less experience and are automatically hired at a lower wage after laying off or retiring FTEs? My point is, yes if you can afford a more balanced work/life - great, whatever is your priority. I think it’s important to acknowledge those that may not have the luxury or privileges to make those choices or make those choices without a lot of sacrifice. Smart has nothing to do with it, in my opinion it’s the opportunities that are made or presented and either way that takes time and again priorities.

Budgeting then becomes very important
I'm with you on very few being able to design their days. In this job market, I have to disagree with "anyone can make money." That just isn't the case, unfortunately. Take a gander at the unemployment bowl if you don't believe me. There aren't enough jobs to go around right now.
But the jobs report says there have never been fewer unemployed people per vacancy! /S
There is a lot I love about what I do. My sister works fully remote in marketing, and she travels all over the world while she works. Though I love nursing, I do have a lot of regret at not being able to really experience life the way she can.

Yet, you can work remotely as a nurse if you ever choose too! In nursing there are always options!

Absolutely agree! That's what I currently have and don't like to move to any new role or organisation. My freedom and stress free job where I can support my family is much more important than few grand more income.
Chasing money without staying close to
Your “why” or without purpose is a great way to burnout, many people are in that boat right now.
I love this perspective and if I’m being honest, I
wish we didn’t have to choose between a good salary and freedom. We deserve both !
