Need help: I got an in house counsel offer for a venture fund. I’m a 4th year. 275 50 bonus 50 options every year. Full benefits covered work anywhere. I’m panicking this is dead end and I’ll never move on and I should stay in biglaw. Am I crazy? Am I stuck in biglaw mindset?

Don’t take it but send me the recruiters info and put in a good word for me

Thats a really good offer for a 4th year.

like

VERY good offer

like

Are u in a venture fund practice now? Sounds like an awesome move. I would do it, that’s why I want to know if I could make this move from general corporate. Also nothing is really a dead end. The company might be a dead end, but then you can take that experience and bring to the next fund or go back to big law or make your own fund!

like

So much of this is accurate.

like

Take it, then recruit me

Don’t befall to the biglaw battered wife syndrome… it sounds like an incredible gig. You just gotta bite the bullet and do what’s best for you. These opportunities are not going to come around again when the market is no longer this hot

like

This objectively superior to big law in pretty much every way. How did you snag this?

like

Honest question - what is “dead end” about this offer?

like

How do you get options in a venture fund

like

This sounds incredible. If you don’t want it, there are plenty of people waiting in the wings to take it. What about it makes you think it is dead end?

like

Honestly, this sounds amazing and I know people who went back to big law after a VC inhouse fund counsel gig.

like

No carry?

Very good offer. Better than a lot I’ve seen.

That’s VERY good. By any measure.

Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.
I mean it's possible that I may receive a merit, but I feel like I won't considering my manager never brought it up & the dept update made it sound like those receiving it should know by now.

Loan payment question. I have two federal loans. One has no accumulated interest and is ~$110k. One has about $19k of accumulated interest (I previously made an embarrassingly low amount of money), but the total is ~$140k. While the interest is still frozen, do I: 1) make payments on the $110k principal amount only to maximize driving it down; 2) make payments on the $140k principal amount only to maximize driving it down; 3) make payments on the $19k of interest on the $140k loan; or 4) ??
