Hello all,
Would like to know specifically about Queer inclusion at SocGen Societe Generale. What is the attitude of mangers and HRs towards treating LGBTQ identifying candidates? Is company really inclusive or it’s just a lip service? Considering an offer with the company but being an out and proud Queer woman, super anxious and concerned.

ACD 1 makes valid points. I moved from nyc 6 years ago and laugh at friends who tell me they moved from CA or NYC to an apt downtown and spend 2200/mon on rent. You can find amazing apts in better areas and better prices. My suggestions for a social life and convenience are the Zilker neighborhood, south of the river like South 1 or south congress. East Riverside is gorgeous and very “up and coming”
If you wanna chat one ex-nyc to another, PM me.
I lived in East riverside for a year and it’s just a lot of strip malls. I was coming from Chicago and definitely missing things to walk to and a neighborhood vibe. Overall, as people mentioned, many of the larger apartment buildings are full of recent college grads who like to party during the week. A lot of the new build apartments are super crappy quality and you can hear everything your neighbors do as well. I recommend looking at yelp/google reviews. I currently live in Gables park tower and it’s definitely quieter and more age appropriate (I’m in my 30s) as well as a great location. Seconding Bouldin, Zilker, Travis Heights and South First in addition to Clarksville. I’m not a fan of the East side in terms of living... great to go out in though.
If you’re younger a lot of people are into the Arnold or Corazon. Word to you though, as someone who moved here in their mid 20’s now staring into their early 30s...and wondering why I haven’t left already...I thought it’d be like NYC or SF....it is not. Most people have cars and drive. This is not a walkable city. I love the East side but found it’s more affordable to live next to St. Eds and just make the 7 min drive to my fave spots East.
Thanks! Yeah i’m from Dallas originally and have spent time in ATX—so know i’ll need a car. I’m about to be 30.
Oh you don’t want to move to the east side! Sure there are bars and restaurants but there’s a homeless village right next to the highway and property/personal crime is terrible. You’re from NYC - moving to Austin and you want to live in another 10ft by 10ft apartment. But yourself a car and move 10 mins from the city. MUCH more bang for your buck there.
I live in East Austin. No crime anywhere around me. The gentrification is bonkers so in one neighborhood you’ll see 150K homes surrounded by million dollar homes and BMWs of Tesla’s. I actually would NOT recommend you commute. I lived in NYC in Williamsburg and Bushwick as well as ATX (south Lamar, east side and out towards Southpark meadows) and let me tell you... going from NYC to ATX will be an adjustment and you’ll have to drive everywhere. And commuting to and from ATX SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. IH35 SUCKS!!!! 183 SUCKS! 290 SUCKS!
I feel like they’re building new apartments over there by the week. Check out 7East, that’s the only one I know off hand. Also, definitely consider living in different neighborhoods. You could probably find a house/duplex to rent in Zilker, Bouldin, or Travis Heights for the same price as a luxury apartment - or way less. Also also, the East side is separate from downtown, albeit close.
You bet and safe travels!
