Oh, you better sit down for this one…
Lakes at Bellevue on highway 70. You should be able to get an apartment for $1300ish. I lived there for 2 years and totally loved it.
The Crossings of Bellevue. 1400$, 15 mins from downtown
Knox @ Metrocenter but guest parking is sometimes a struggle
Check out Wrenstone in Bellevue. Super nice community and I can get basically anywhere in nash no more than 25 minutes, but west nash is about 10-12 minutes with East nash more like 18 minutes
Pro
You won’t find that lol. 1 beds that are in a complex worth living in are gonna be upwards of $1700
You can definitely find that 20 minutes from the city - that’s a wide radius
Also Maxwell apartments. Top of the line amenities that make you fall in love, I have a friend who just moved there. Brand new, so you’ll likely be the first tenant in your unit. Only con is the area is iffy

Oh, the walkability issue I can attest to haha. When people say “iffy” about the Antioch area they’re usually referring to other things
If you are 100% married to the idea that you need to live in Nashville, I would highly suggest taking the loss and paying more for one of the brand new apartments downtown or in the Melrose area. You will struggle to pay 1600. Nashville rent is insane. Period. Without knowing more specifically about your must-have and refuse to deal with list, I would suggest downloading the rent app, the apartments app and start scrolling through to look and see what you want. Avoid Donaldson, avoid Antioch. Avoid anything on Murfreesboro Pike.
If it were me and I was looking I think I would look at Knox at Metrocenter or City View on Rolling Mill Hill. Both are in the 1800 ish range but I have no clue what extras they would tack on. Barring that if the drive doesn't bother you maybe Hendersonville or Brentwood.
Gossett on Church, downtown Nash, 1800$
Lol - pro tip, If you want to keep any sort of saving or quality of life DON'T move to Nashville. I just moved after 17 years and I have ZERO regrets. Unfortunately, the city is going in the wrong direction - the city has plummeted in the last six years in terms of cost of living with no end in sight! \
I’m from NYC, spent the last 7 in Miami, also lived in Europe…I tend to think everything in life is relative and comparatively Nashville prices (and COL increases over the last 15+ years) are not even close to anywhere else I’ve lived…But I’m moving for a job that’s a stepping stone in a longer career trajectory so even if all the hate (COL and COL increases aside) I see about Nash is warranted, I (unless I loved it) won’t be there forever.
I lived for a few years at the Preserve at Brentwood and it was a well maintained, centrally located apartment community within 15 minutes to pretty much anything. 1/1 are in your budget but as far as an apartment building/mid rise or high rise you’re going to be looking at around $2k+. https://www.udr.com/nashville-apartments/brentwood/preserve-at-brentwood/
Antioch is cheap - $1100 for a 1 br. You don’t want to live there long-term but nice if you’re first moving here
I would avoid anything near I-24 at all costs. Worst highway in the entire state.
Had no idea Bellevue is still affordable. We are south and probably $2000 for a 1 bed, and are 45 minutes from town with traffic. So sounds like west or north are the answers?
South is mostly in Williamson county which has great schools. Bellevue is still affordable as the schools are average and there are plenty of large apartment communities.
Following up - in the off chance you choose Wrenstone in Bellevue message me in private, I get 1 month free rent for referrals lol. But not recommending bc of the referral. I’d recommend anyone to live her. Management is SO chill but the property is kept up super well. It’s basically brand new and you’d be like the second resident ever in your apartment
Will definitely message you if I like it!
Easier to find $1600 20mins commuting distance by driving around. The people who are posting in that price range aren’t paying to advertise, or to get bombarded with inquiries
Look off Ellington Parkway
