Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

CS
CS
Analytics all the way. I find CS is treating cloud as new tech, and they can't do advanced AI, ML, or statistics. usually can't spell XB-Boost let alone explain its applicability.
Much will depend on what courses you choose, regardless of major.
Sorry, I hate long replies on phones when I can't use voice entry. My mistake. I'll own it.
If you have a BS in comp science an Ms in comp science won’t do much. I would then recommend the MS in analytics especially if coupled from a business school
I do have a BS in CS. This was my exact thought. I'm just not sure what looks best on a resume.
CS
Even so I still recommend CS. MS in Analytics is considered for model consumers, which is not hard core enough for you especially you want to get on a specialist track. At the end it's math algorithm and programming.
Analytics
Computer Science if you want a real job. Analytics if you want to remain as a consultant
I studied MS Business Analytics and I have a real job as Analytics Manager managing those who studied Computer Science. Depends what kind of job you want.
CS if you want to actually build stuff. If you just want to analyze data and present them to fellow humans then analytics.
My data science team builds applications. Only one ms in comp sci on the team. One doesn’t exclude you from the other.
CS majors get about half what analytics people get in industry.
I’m not sure what it looks like industry wide, but at the FAANG companies from what I’ve seen, they pay swe more and analytics a bit less, or the same in some cases. But I haven’t seen any where they pay analytics more than swe. I say that as someone in analytics but who did a major in CS and have some regrets about the direction I took.
Depends on your career path. What do you want to be doing after you get the degree?
I believe the Faang will pay more, and SW companies as well. In Comms, Media, and the Resources companies I'm working with CS and low level Analytics agree pay much less than Data Scientists. MS DS starts well over 200K in tier 2 and 3 cities, NY suburbs in the $250K and up range to start.
I feel like it depends on what you want out of it and what coursework you want to take. More application based course work than Analytics, if you want more theory based course work then CS and if you want even more theory than MS in ECE focused on ML/DS
