My agency ended our WFH policy at the beginning of the year. I knew it was coming, but I'm still pretty pissed about it. I now have to spend 45 minutes to an hour in traffic EACH way. I don't understand why we had to come back to the office. We're still meeting via Zoom, and all of my customer interactions are over the phone or email. Why do I need to be in an office for this?

Glad I work for the company I do. They are still selling off property and have whole departments that are remote. Even I with an in office job only require 1 day a week in office. Kinda weird my team is in 4 different cities and still have to come into office to talk to them on teams one day a week lol

That's just the way the trend has developed, the remote work era is pretty much over. When major banks starting demanding that people return to the office I assumed it would reach every business. People in upper management always want to follow the leader. In fairness, there are some sound reasons why teams work better if they're in proximity, but it also relates to the traditional idea that bosses want to make sure they can see people working.

You do realize that remote working was mainly just set up due to COVID and that some companies just decided to extend it? Remote work is coming to an end for all companies eventually.
You are lucky to have been able to work from home as even during COVID some people did not have that luxury and if a coworker was sick and did not realize they had COVID you ended up with it as well.
I think you need to ask yourself, "Do I want to go into the office and still have a job OR do I want to be unemployed with the thousands of others unemployed and looking for work?" If you voluntarily leave due to something as simple as no longer being able to WFH then you are not going to be eligible for unemployment benefits.

I work from home as a Case Manager for an insurance company, but my job has been remote well before COVID. We do drive out to our member's homes for assessments at least 1-2x a week. It just makes sense that our jobs be remote. Management is in constant contact with us and they track everything on our computers . We have no reason to drive into a location just to be in proximity to each other. Thankfully theyve never considered ending our WFH program for my position. We would all quit. Our jobs are hard enough with insane metrics to meet. They know we are working because of the amount of work we are getting done. Some people cannot hang with the pace and would rather go into an office to hangout and chit-chat with coworkers all to satisfy some control freaks ego of needing to see people show up daily. Its ridiculous and Im so sorry youre having to go through this.

I love the hybrid schedule.

I hate that companies insist people come back to the office. If we had more collaborative jobs, then sure. But our work doesn’t require a lot of face to face team work.

So if it was an in office job prior to Covid most companies set the expectation that eventually they would be going back into office and played it by ear..... I personally made sure that I would get into a position that would never return to office. Most people forgot that the companies still had leases and properties they owned that, yes I am sure they were given some relief, that still had to be maintained etc. so it is logical that back to office ya go.... I personally drove into the office each day prior to Covid... we had remote meetings and had calls ... some people do well in an office environment. I believe it is needed rather we admit it or not. The more we get away from being together as a collective the less caring we get, we get more disconnected from each other. It helps, as humans we need contact and to interact in person with people beside just our families. The working online remote thing has taken a toll people have no idea how to interact with one another on the roads or in stores. In office and in school interactions help with manners and basic respect and decency. The remote shit has definitely caused a huge disconnect.

Hey everyone! This is my first time posting but I thought I’d try to ask, I received a request from a recruiter to interview for a new insurance company I’ve never heard of: Branch. Looked it up and it seems to be a new “Techsurance” company working with both home and auto policies. Does anyone have any information they could share about this company? Thank you!
