Hey,
Is it a good idea to join Paypal for Software Engineer III from Walmart Software Engineer III, for the base salary of 35LPA and 9L RSUs per year for Chennai location ? I am currently withdrawing 24LPA as base and 4.2 as Variable and 3.5L RSUs vested for 4 years.
I have been told that I'll be part of Risk team under Paypal Transactions domain. Any Idea how is the work culture and tech stack here in this team?

Whenever you feel like this again, next day just visit your local market at 1-2 pm in peak summer heat. You'll see beggers, rikshaw pullers and small small vendors struggling to make ends meet in the scorching heat. Buy something from them, thank god for what you have and go home.
You want to know what's disappointing? I used to make around 12 LPA. Lost my job, wife got diagnosed with a tumor. Spent around 8 lacs for treatment. Wiped my entire savings. Currently in debt of 4 lacs. In the meantime I got a job with 50% paycut. I can't even afford rent, so staying with my parents while trying to find a new job.
I am willing to help you
Sounds cliche, but ask them what they’re doing to get into that sort of a job and skill up. Try using it as motivation. And don’t worry too much, I know easier said than done, but try not to compare as everybody grows at their own pace.

True everyone has their own time to achieve things just keep a checklist of your own, dont see others like what they are spending and all, everyone's life is different and have different requirements, and based on requirements/goals try to position yourself in a way that you get that much or you invest and save so that you are able to achieve your goals.
Rising Star
Stop comparison and start improving yourself. Thats it
First off, compare away but in the right way, maybe you have better WLB than your friend, maybe you spend more time with your family and friends, maybe you put your money in more worthwhile things or save more, all my friends are earning almost double of what I am earning but my WLB was much better than them, my savings are more than theirs because I spent more carefully since I didn't get some kind of amazing 100-200% increment suddenly and I definitely spent more time with my parents and friends actually enjoying whatever I earned.
Secondly, if you want an increment, get out of your comfort zone, ask your friend what they are doing, check if you want to get trained in that, or upskill in something else and move up. It might take you a few months to à year, and à couple of job switches but I'm sure you will get to her pay or even more.
I was having same thoughts when I met one of my friends. She was earning 25LPA and I was in 6.4LPA.
Its near about 20 days after our meeting and I already have a offer of 14LPA in my hand. Competition should motivate us.
Don’t compare
Stick to a budget
Create a goal - what amount you need for good life
Work on that
Tricky, but my 2 cents on this-
1. Everyone has different backstory, tracks, and priorities. What is important is to exchange notes for mutual growth and inferences within context and not out of it.
2. Basis point 1, it is moot to compare someone's midlife story with someone else's starting point to gauge the end result.
3. Role > Industry > Company as long as personal brand > network strength > company brand as far as career growth preference goes. Key is to upgrade across all EVENTUALLY (Rome wasn't built in a day but it also wasnt built by laying one brick at a time. Consistency is key).
4. Your monetary growth will be significant (not saying exponential coz that always depends on the base) when, in terms of your KPI and personal focus, quality of work >> quantification of work as a deliverable. Try to assess how far are you from that situation.
5. Try to keep moving, but don't be afraid of plateau-ing: what this means is that in order to grow, you need to move around. However, that move can't be SOLELY out of panic and F.O.M.O.
Like that Ambani lives in a house 1 billion worth , stop these things or else very soon you will feel worthless on this earth !!!
Stop comparing yourself to others and work on your own ambitions and aspirations
