Why would you leave your job based on hearsay. Wait and see how everything pans out. If the increment doesn’t come, ask why and what you should do to place you higher.
Unfortunately that's a big time risk too, if they stay and hope to get something without an exit plan then it delays their exit to a better paying position.
If your manager did not tell you that you do not understand work, I would be careful about thinking they said that. I have had coworkers in the past try to get my confidence level down because I am a a better employee than they are, and they see me as a threat to their career growth.
Have an exit plan if you don't get what you expect. Too many managers make empty promises just to keep employees in their position longer. You should always focus on how to best improve your position and pay when possible and don't leave that up to others.
Exit plan can be an internal transfer or external job offer. Best wishes.

You need to have a meeting with your boss and asked about the promised salary increment. Then, let your boss tell you why they aren’t or when they are giving you a raise. If you need to work on something, then work on it and see how it goes. If you’re already doing amazing, but they aren’t recognizing it, then time to leave that job if you want more pay.
