Best use of that mindfulness app - turn that phone off outside work if it’s a company phone. Delete that app if it’s your personal phone. 🙂
Rising Star
Haha, honestly? That might be the most effective use of the app yet. Turning off the company phone is probably the most mindful thing we can do.
Calmly stressed, lol, we are the same. I honestly think those mindfulness apps and other wellness perks are unrelated to the stressors of the job. I don't think they have meetings where they decide, "I know that the people are on the verge of rioting, but you know what will help? A Headspace subscription!" I just think it feels that tone-deaf sometimes.
Rising Star
Haha, exactly! Calmly stressed is the perfect way to put it. hose wellness perks feel like they’re designed in a vacuum, completely disconnected from the actual pressure we’re under.

Our wellness "perks" are like "1 free therapy session" and then you have to pay to keep going. That's not gonna help my 50 hour weeks.
Rising Star
Exactly! One free therapy session feels more like a PR move than actual support. It’s like they’re saying, We care, but only for 45 minutes. When you’re clocking 50 hour weeks, you need more than a token gesture you need real structural change.
Rising Star
lol. Because they are just a Band-Aid. My company released several of these programs a few years ago. While I recognized that I could benefit from these apps, I didn't have time to even look into them. The irony!
Rising Star
Right? That’s the irony that gets me too. They roll out these wellness programs like they’re solving burnout, but we’re so swamped we don’t even have time to open the app.
I kind of like the free Headspace, Zwift, and gym stipend benefits, but what I really can't stand are the "wellness coach" type benefits that consist entirely of someone texting or calling to nag you almost daily about getting tests, pills, etc.
Rising Star
I hear you! The gym stipend and Headspace are nice in theory, but when the wellness coach starts feeling like a micromanaging parent, it kind of defeats the purpose.
