The only way to know is ask. And don't have any fear in asking, it is your right to be fully informed.
That sounds like a plan. Try both. Like I mentioned, you have nothing to lose. Do what you have to as long as it is ethical and preserves your image.
I would send a follow-up email, asking for the status of the position and restate your interest in the company or that position.

1 Schedule a meeting with the recruiter using the Calendly link they sent initially to schedule an interview with me
2 Email the interviewer to ask
Should I do 1 or 2 or both? Any downside to this? Interviewer was a team member, not the hiring manager.
Rejection could be for the job role that you are interviewed. Bcz, you haven't heard anything about the other 2 roles you applied but got a call for the 3rd one, then received a rejection.
So, it means they don't put rejection email at initial level but only when someone is interviewed, they do to confirm so that candidate doesn't expect anymore. Its a theory based on the logical sequence of events considered chronologically.
