I’m SHAKING from anger. This morning in the elevator Buddy put his hand around my shoulder and says “I know y’all are good friends but we had to get some things straight as far as working style but we’re on the same page now. Didn’t meant to be so hard on her” I’m trying not to smack fire out of him right now. I don’t even know what to tell her either. This is gotta be RACISM. I don’t know what else to do, because I’m on the path towards promotion currently.
I think he RECORDED it too. Now he’s interacting with her and he’s laughing making jokes saying that if she ever needs insights refer to the video he sent her…. I feel like I’m gonna CRASH OUTTTTT!!!!

He is committing a crime. You could even anonymously report it as a concerned coworker. Not sure if Better Business Bureau or EEOC will be most helpful. Maybe someone else has insight into that.
Providing an update. I asked her she admitted they were intimate but she won’t take action against him. I then told him what he did wasn’t right, then next I went to HR just to put them on watch… they acted like they didn’t know anything. They’re stating that this new manager has a high unlikelihood of doing this. NOW I have 1:1 on my calendar for this Friday with HR, the manager, and the boss under him. It’s set for 400pm on a Friday. They also added the company accounting email on the same email thread.
I think we all know how this goes so I’m now open for new roles.

This is def sexual harassment of some sort, no? Regardless, I’m so sorry that you have to go thru something this disgusting. As black men, it hurts that in an environment like this we have to keep in our emotions from consuming us - even though this is completely justified in this scenario (I’d for one would personally enjoy choking this guy out with my belt with a smile on face). BUT, you need to ask her EXACTLY what happened and get her to be transparent and honest with you. You need to develop a plan to expose this guy - but legally. Try to get her to get that recording too if she can! Go to the Black in Law page on Fishbowl - they can def give you more insight on how to approach this from a civil manner.
