Needing WM career guidance... Offer given at JPM PC Investment Associate full time in office, with an interview at MS for Registered CSA to support clients in person. Currently an institutional analyst, S7/63 held, trying to work towards WM advisor or FA. What would be the more valuable role towards advancing?

Based on my experience at JPM and other firms, this is my personal opinion about your question:

If your goal is to advance swiftly into a financial advisor or wealth management career, the Registered CSA role at Morgan Stanley offers more direct, client-centric experience. It allows you not just to observe, but actively participate in the client lifecycle—from engagement and support to planning and marketing.

By contrast, the Private Client Investment Associate role at J.P. Morgan provides valuable structure and operational know-how—particularly useful for mastering compliance and process integrity—but it leans more toward backend support.

In resume, since your end game is to become a Financial Advisor or Wealth Manager, the Registered CSA at MS is your way to go my friend. Also, I’m 100% sure MS will pay you more than JPM. Good luck bud!

Great tips!

Having worked at JPMC....it is definitely a grind. Working under Jamie is no joke, but the firm benefits and rewards are amazing! The stock has been soaring and when I was there I contributed to buying company stock and has increased exponentially. Now he might be stepping down in the next few years so that is also something to consider who his replacement might be.

Also what's the base salary difference? That may be the determining factor as well.

Of course the benefits and perks are amazing lol do you know how much $ these companies are making off your work….? I say work for yourself. Build your own business. If you’re already in finance then do financial coaching for free and build trust with your clients. Once you teach them , they trust you and will come only to you for guidance. And they will even tell friends and family about you. I think it’s time we all start to thinking bigger. You deserve more!!!!

How do you feel about leaving a company shortly after joining?

I've been told by people to not be loyal to companies & I've seen posts in forums where people have talked about leaving workplace 1, at workplace 2 for like 3 weeks, and already interviewing for workplace 3 (and the recruiter for workplace 3 doesn't even know that the person has left workplace 1). That feels a little disingenuous and...bad etiquette maybe? What do you think?

I'm a Canadian on the TN visa working in the US and planning on maxing my Roth IRA (6k) and will have enough left to max my 401k this year, but am not sure if I should just use a taxable account over 401k due to tax considerations when I move back to Canada (likely 1-2 years from now). Any thoughts here? I don't think I'll have enough RRSP room to move 401k>IRA>RRSP and I would prefer to not have to file US taxes every year in retirement for withdrawls if I left the 401k in the US.

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Was told I am a low performer today and need to improve or I am terminated. I have roughly 3 months to find a new job right?
