My personal take is that the new credits are solid and broadly make up for the annual fee for me to keep the card, but the premium cards are increasingly only relevant for city dwellers that can go out / travel frequently. Certainly a sizeable demographic, but others may no longer need to drop close to $1000 on these fancy coupon books.
Pro
Agreed. Makes zero sense for me because I stay home a lot and then ball out abroad, where these credits won't work.
If you pay cash for luxury hotels, eat at fancy restaurants, and go to events within the US (stubhub/lyft), it's a good option. Sapphire lounges are nice too.
This is great, thx

Note: If you currently hold the CSR, you won't get the new benefits until October. Annual fee renewals after October will be $795.
Do we get the benefits starting now before our plan re-ups? I might try and snag all the credits then take a year off
Pro
No. Read the new comment I posted (couldn't fit it in the post).
Is it now better to use, as an example, chase freedom for Uber/Lyft, etc.?
Pro
I think most Chase cards still give 5x on Lyft until next year or something.
Yeah for uber, transit, parking, etc, the $300 CSR credit will still work but after that you'll only be getting 1x. If you care enough, you could change to CFU after the credit is used.
Not sure the last part is right. I thought the travel points portal multiplier was going to 2x
Pro
Nope. It is going down to 1x, but it can be up to 2x on "select travel." So there may be deals here and there if you're lucky, but the flat multiplier is gone.
