Not sure what to do - I know I don’t want to stay in PA (b4 audit) forever. There is a company I am very interested in working for. Do I apply with only 1.5 yoe or wait and get a couple more years of experience and potentially get a better role? They currently have open positions for gl accountant and senior financial reporting accountant. The position online says 2+ yoe in PA but I am thinking about applying with 1.5. Need advice! Thank you in advance!

If you don’t hate audit, I’d do another busy season and then bounce after you get promoted to senior

like

No harm in trying. What's the worst that could happen?

like

What are your long term goals? Will this help you get there? Also agree that there’s no harm in applying

like

Long term goal would be to move up in a company like the one I am thinking about applying for and achieve more of a WLB. I feel like the longer I stay at b4 tho, the more it will help set me up. I just don’t want to jump to a new opportunity too early

like

I think the experience you get as a Senior will serve you well no matter what you do next. Supervisory experience, project management, client communications. If you hated audit, I’d say try to exit now. But if it’s just a matter of not wanting to stay “forever”, I’d stay and be a Senior for a year or more. Seems like a disservice to your overall career to not get that experience.

My wife often calls me by 5:45/6 to ask where I am if I’m not headed home yet. Sometimes she’s stressed with kids/dogs/dinner and really wants me home. Any advice on how to approach this?

But in my current position, we’ve been adding quite a few new projects (and our team is partner, two staff, and me) that will probably start over the next couple of months. I don’t think my boss has any idea I’m looking to leave - anything I should do to not feel guilty about potentially leaving them short staffed with a ton of work? Got two offers on the table, who love to hear your advice!

- Finance Business Partner for a late stage (Series D/valuation 3B) startup tech company

- Corp Dev analyst role for a listed niche gambling company

The tech job pays 15k more, but from what I can see will be a cluster and super long hours (has EU stakeholders). Maybe a pipe dream, but I want to have a "somewhat" decent wlb while still growing my career toward strategy and finance.

Thoughts on which one is better?
