How does one transition from mid-market insurance defense litigation to anything else?

For those who came from an unrelated position or career, what was the reason that got you into Product Management? Is it enjoyable and/or what you expected it to be?

I've seen and heard of a few Software Engineers who switched into Technical Product Manager roles. Curious to see what got some people into this field.

Do we have any generic certification policy at HCL for upskilling.

Not talking about project specific or where RM needs to approve, as this tech (cloud) is something I want to learn, not part of my day to day work.

I am a mid level litigation associate at a midsized firm in NYC, which means working big law hrs, without big law pay. My hesitation going to big law is getting substantially less control/responsibility over cases I handle and the fact that most mid levels I know are running from big law rather than towards it. Any insight and/or suggestions are welcome.

I am feeling hopeless. I’m a tax senior been through 4 busy seasons with Deloitte. The tax I’m in is pretty niche and I kinda wanna leave tax all together since I wanna start a family and personally can’t do it with another busy season. I don’t know who is willing to hire me because I feel pigeonholed. I’m just hating every moment with this firm right now. Any advice on what positions/companies might be best to look into?

Been in the industry a while, current Head of DSPV and looking to jump back into FT work.
