As a data engineer, they told initially work on java and spark and aws which indeed is there. I thought it will adventurous.

But seems like it's overwhelming as I come from service based company along with azure experience.

I have 5 yoe. Finding it tough to cope up with java.

Also the codebase seems to be big.

My prev exp mostly on azure and databricks limited one on databricks.

I have been working remotely since covid getting nothing but positive reviews. My company is not remote friendly and is now telling me I have to return to the office or I lose my job. I just found out a co-worker had a remote position created for them, without a job posting, without an interview and without the experience required (normally a license or certification would be mandatory). At a M7 (or top 10), whatever floats your boat. Have successfully finished my qualifiers. I know my goal is industry and I’m starting dissertation proposal stuff now (will take around 1.5-2 years to complete), should I opt for a Master’s and start working now? Should I get the PhD? Let’s look at this from a strictly career perspective. My goal is to come back to consulting.
