Many big retailers were facing issues, I really think Target went wrong with the backlash to the backlash. The DEI rollbacks caused a lot of people to go elsewhere, and the people on the other side were already doing just that. Lose-lose in their case.
I hear your concerns. From what I have seen on the news, Target has faced criticism for both operational shortcomings and decisions that seem to distance them from their loyal customer base. The reduction in DEI initiatives, for example, has been seen by some as a step back from their previously inclusive image. It's a reminder of how important it is for companies to stay true to their values while also adapting to changing market conditions.
"“we are still the Target you know and believe in—a company that welcomes all and aims to bring joy to everyone, every day.”" This isn't true though, not at all. People, me included, are getting tired of companies acting one way but talking another. They should have to face consequences for it.

I agree with Cashier 1. Target CEO had to just cut his salary to now 9 million a year. "just". I don't want to go to stores where I'm struggling to even afford basic necessities and then know their CEOs CUT salary is 9 million a year. I'd rather spend the same amount at a local co-op and actually support my community
Yeah, I can't believe they went all in on the anti-dei stuff. Walmart can get away with it because of its demo, but Target had a more diverse audience and they turned their back on them
I think it's a combination of rising prices relative to other retail stores but also the DEI thing. They became the poster child of turning their back on diversity, equity, and inclusion. I don't think they were the only company to roll back their initiatives, but they were definitely the most high-profile and visible example of this.

Not in loop with all of this, can someone explain
