Yes. Also, there’s a general reckoning in larger ad agencies right now. The industry, in its traditional form, is shrinking.

And the amount of new business wins.
In general it’s tied to quarters. Most companies (meaning clients but this can also be true for the agency as well) start making budget cuts at the end of their fiscal year to compensate for overspending in the first half of the year. For that reason, job prospects are generally better at the start. The fiscal year doesn’t always line up with the calendar year so keep that in mind. Also most people just don’t quit around major end of year holidays which means there aren’t jobs to be had. And then there’s the dying agency model. This is truly happening but I think smaller more nimble shops will be ok for a while. Either way, it’s worth considering a corporate side job if your heart can take it.
