Perhaps. If so, hopefully the junior gained something from it.

I doubt it. The senior is probably training the junior and the junior feels confident enough to ask amateur questions.

That’s my hunch too.

Question: why should they care if your pool for other clients gets smaller?

Whatever it’s intent, the request to supply our freelancers separately from a project bid had the effect of establishing professional boundaries. Saying yes puts us at risk of being “in-sourced” by our own talent pool; saying no makes it clear in this area we aren’t competitors per se but nonetheless have overlapping aspects of our service offerings.

A colleague shared with me the presentation they have prepared for their promotion case. I worked with them on multiple projects during the year and I can clearly see that some of the claims on the deck are wild exaggeration or lies. For example, managed changes in scope for Project X including contract changes. Plot twist: there never was a change of scope for Project X and the contract is exactly the same. How can people be so dishonest? How far can you go before truth catching up?

The fund is not a client at the firm ( but has size to become one). I want to play fair with my firm but also do not miss the opportunity.
