Indeed. Status is valuable if you’re flying Delta domestically. Points less so when you’re vacationing internationally, due to the skypesos thing, but status gives you the multiplier.
OP’s problem is they’re getting on the train late in the game.if this were February they would be an AA convert kicking and screaming in no time.
By the way, OP; this assume decent mileage. If you’re going Chicago to Cedar Rapids and are connecting through Minneapolis, that’s not so great.
Former AA EP for 3 years and made the switch to Delta. Don’t regret it one bit being inconvenienced to go through ATL or DTW almost every time because I’ve been stuck with Delta and AA during winter or delays and Delta is much less of a headache.
If you fly from or to Atlanta, Delta is the worst. They oversell every flight way too much. Platinum means nothing as most people have sky priority. Switched to AA last year and can't be happier.
Delta Platinum out of ATL here; I’ve sat in economy maybe once in the past year and I’ve been flying to major US cities. As long as you’re not booking all your flights last minute, you’re fine.
Also, what do you mean they oversell flights? Most airlines do but unless you’re basic economy it shouldn’t impact you at all. Delta has the lowest rate of involuntary bumps of US carriers and it isn’t close
AA is matching status right now, just offered me gold. Even without status I’d take the nonstop
gold is like the lowest tier bud
Connections just mean you earn status twice as fast :)
Delta. Sleep at 7 pm on Sunday.
Currently have this same problem, chose the dark side
AA!
How long is this project? If it’s the only way to keep or improve your status, and you can’t get a match for some reason with AA, screw it and get the miles and segments (and probably additional dollars too). You can sleep on the first leg.
But as someone else said, high missed flight risk and Sunday night sleep will be heinous with a 3:30 wake up.
Only take AA if you get a status match
Depends on where you're connecting thru
It shouldn’t be about the airline. Sleep and time is much more valuable than status
LOL I’ve been contemplating the same thing!! But I’m sticking to Delta - I have Platinum status and will got Diamond this year. Plus AA is in the tank right now
