Private practice now, but I was an ADA for a bit and it was the best job ever from an ADHD perspective. I spent every morning on my feet having to react to things on the fly with whether I was handling arraignments or motions. I got all of my “paper” type work done in the afternoons with the energy I had from the morning dopamine rush.
The key was using a physical, date based filing system for everything so there was no way I could forget anything by trying to keep track of it in my head.
Only thing is I’m the ADHD Inattentive Type, so I don’t have the benefit of that hyperactive motor…
Previous prosecutor here, it was a great position for my brain. On the go, fast paced.
I was both a public defender and a prosecutor. Public defender was better for my ADHD. Quick turnaround of cases, constantly on my feet, novelty. I had harder time as da building cases, crossing t’s and dotting i’s. For me tearing down a case was easier on my ADHD. I’m now in house and really struggling. If it weren’t for $, I’d go back to criminal.
Definitely not for me. I can’t focus at my desk. Something about having a person in a robe who is yelling at me and locking people up gets me to focus.
