Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

Coach
Don’t listen to them! All successful people have haters and naysayers. Block them out. And keep people close who support you. Think of it this way, if people are doubting you or hating on you, it means you’re doing something right.
Honestly, this coworker is just jealous. If someone said that to me, I would respond with, “actually, I was interviewed and thoroughly evaluated by multiple people in high leadership to determine if i was a good fit for this new role. And they all concluded I was. So, I have faith and their decision and I’m confident I can overcome any challenges I encounter in this new role. Challenges will only make me better and further my career. I appreciate your support.”
Thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate your reply and your perspective!
What this coworker is doing is not cool.
Are they in a position to evaluate your performance? Ie how do they know whether or not you’re prepared? And how do they determine whether it’s “too big” for you?
If this is a rumor they are spreading around about you, you might need to address it with them directly and ask them to kindly stop. Have you considered doing this? Is this scary?
Sending you all the love ❤️
I’m sorry to hear that (“he would get aggressive”).
But if there’s a possibility of him being aggressive, you probably need to talk to someone: your manager, HR, etc.
Even if they don’t take any action/say anything to him just yet, at least there’s a record that a) him talking about you negatively is affecting you, and b) you being worried he’d get aggressive if you addressed it with him directly (that’s not a safe work environment).
In the meantime, try to figure out what specifically hurts you about his comment(s). Oftentimes, there are additional layers behind someone’s comment that are not instantly obvious (maybe it reminds you of something else; or somebody else). It helps to understand what’s happening so that these comments don’t affect you as much going forward.
And then focus on delivering excellence at work. As someone said somewhere, “become so great, they can’t ignore you”. It will be hard for anyone to spread rumors when people know how amazing you are/your work is. That person will simply come across as petty.
Good luck! ❤️
Instead of focusing on anxious energy can your turn around that comment as an opportunity to reconnect with your team, direct reports(if you have any) and leaders? Managing up and across is just as important as managing down if not more important. If how others perceive you affects how you feel in the role then expressing yourself as you say you enjoy the work there are just cyclical flow of busy and slower days at work just like everyone else but also proving you are hitting these normal milestones and settling in is completely normal.
At the same time make sure this colleague is not trying to sabotage you. Without context you can either use it as constructive feedback because they see something you don’t or they’re using it to undermine you and you should use either reason as a means to fuel this into an opportunity for growth.
Congratulations! 🎈🎉🎊 on your promotion. I always thought a new role/job afforded a minimum 6 months learning curve. Lots of great advice on here! Good luck!
Don't let them get in your head. Remember, people of all levels are plagued by imposter syndrome. You got promoted for a reason. And any new role by its nature, requires you to grow and stretch, which is scary. But it's also why you're doing it! You got this. Go in, be humble but confident. Do your best. No one who is confident in themselves is speaking about others the way your colleague is. Good luck!
