Worth keeping the book around cause at quick glance people think you're studying for the PiMP certification.
I don't have the PMP. At every agency I've worked at the PMP is a nice to have but not really valued. I just got my Scrum Master certification and I'm looking to transition into product management.
Thought about getting it once. It's a nice to have. Not necessary though. Possibly will get your resume through the software and get you more interviews.
I agree with the other posters. A nice to have not necessary though.
I have it and several other certifications. If you ever want to work outside the ad industry it's a must.
I don't have it, but have 15 years experience. I see people get them, and it's done zero for their job performance. Def a nice to have.
I personally don't think PMP is valuable in advertising since (typically) the role of a PM in advertising is totally different than any other industry (IT, engineering, construction, etc.). The only people I have personally worked with who have their PMP are VP and higher. It's certainly a nice to have, but definitely not a requirement.
@SPM1, I'm actually leaving advertising for a Product Owner role at a tech company. I have no experience or certifications for this, but you may also want to look into Certified Scrum Product Owner training if you're interested in switching to product management.
PMP is good for robots. SMC is more valuable and adds to your skill set.
