If you’re uncomfortable, find a new place to work. It definitely sucks to see these things happen. I don’t agree with it. Perhaps the pressure to make more income is because of all the increased costs and lower reimbursements from insurances. It’s forcing people to do this. I’ve seen Physical Therapists do this too. Medical Doctors do this too. It’s a game insurance forces people to play.
Thankfully right now, I don’t worry about it because I am just an associate. But I wonder if I was an owner, and things becoming dire, how can you afford to pay your employees and overhead when each year they give you less?
Not a comfortable place to be. When you become dental professionals, you sign up for ethical work, not only to the patients but for yourself. Insurance is a black hole and they will not benefit you as a provider waiting to get paid for a couple of tx plans. Fee for service is the way to go! Otherwise, you will be between a rock and a hard place every time you have a patient. In the long run, patients appreciate quality over quantity, you want to keep their trust at all times.
Dishonesty is doomed to fail anyone . Matter of time to go down
Thank you. It’s so nice to hear such a cut and dry answer. I’m sure your staff appreciates you.
I agree. Dishonesty is not the way to go. Fraudulent inducement for a job is also a no no. Due to a shortage of hygienists in Ga I was hired on with a company I will keep quiet with who this company is, for a position local to myself. Found out she also hired a younger person for the same position and never told me about it. She never had any intention on giving me that job yet she had me driving 200 miles a day keeping me as a float at a steal because I negotiated hometown pay.
Ugh. That’s lousy. I’m so sorry. This is why I’m getting out of dentistry. For an industry with so much potential, it’s certainly turned into a shady business. I miss the days when it was about helping people.
