If you’ve done executive level roles before, I assume you won’t be happy with joining as SM due to level and compensation. If you are looking at partner level, I’ve worked at multiple big 4s & have seen partners who transitioned from industry with 0 experience in consulting struggle to sell. Not saying you will but sales is a major area
Would you consider an exec MBA?
In your case I think the best route is to maybe look at firms that work with PE clients or the like that but and operate similar businesses.
Agreed with D1, depending on how deep you are in your corporate journey, a hard switch to consulting (for the first time), may not be the way only because you may find yourself a little lost. Typically people who come to us from industry are coming in because theyve been poached for a specific set of skills, have come because of a specific requirement, or have come back after taking a trip to industry (having been consultants once before)
An MBA softens the blow a little bit because it re-orients your thinking, but again it depends on how many years you have under your belt
