I’d say so bc they’re more accurate and faster to use in terms of getting yardage for bunkers, Different parts of the green
Spot on. Accuracy and speed are the biggest benefits.
Yes
I’d say it depends on your handicap. I’m in the teens and feel a gps watch is enough for me. Knowing the distance to the front, middle, and back of the green is all I need. A rangefinder to get exact yardage when my swing is still fairly inconsistent would be overkill.
I have a rangefinder and a GPS. The rangefinder is great because it gives you exact yardages to certain points and to the flag. Hopeful when you want to lay up to a certain spot... Say a tree or in front of a hazard.
I like the GPS for telling me distances to a hazard, but I really like it because it gives you the front back and middle of the green. So obviously you know what distance you have to work with to be on the green and then you know how far you have to carry, especially if there's a hazard or a false front on the green you're hitting it.
18 birdies is a great app for GPS and for keeping all your stats and scores if you like that. It's also nice because you can move the point around on the whole you are on to get a rough distance to where you're aiming or where you want to go. With the range finder, I've had a Bushnell for 5 years now and all I've had to replace is the battery a few times a season.
I have a garmin gps watch - highly recommend
