Yes, con: you’re super close to Times Square
Pro: You have a roof over your head. Con: Your life expectancy is inversely proportional to the amount of time you spend in time square.
Crazy number of tourists in the high season
Hard pass. You’ll go nuts.
omg no. tourist hell and crowded all the time.
As someone who has lived in soho, Williamsburg, and Bowery, I just don’t understand why you would choose to live in midtown. Can someone elaborate as to why?
None of those are LES
Pro: very central and connected to most of the subway lines
You must be new here. Why would you want to live anywhere close to Times Scare?
Yeah just moving here from London
I lived there two years. Loved the apartment, hated the getting in and out of it. Lots of tourists, hard to make way through crowd, extremely noisy and busy. Drove me insane and couldn’t wait for the lease to end. Hard pass.
Look into 34th Herald Sq area. It’s still very close to time sq, you can walk there in 10 mins when the weather is nice. It’s one subway stop if the weather is bad. Less crowded than time sq but still will get a healthy amount of tourists
don't
Nope. There’s plenty of other locations int the city that are close to subways and train stations. I worked in Bryant Park for three years as one of my first roles in NYC and thought it was exciting to be so close to Times Square my first day. Day Three I realized it’s a toxic wasteland. Also, I would consider moving closer to an airport if you travel frequently for work and don’t have to be in the office as much.
depends which way 5 min. whats the intersection?
350 w, 42nd
I lived at 450 (MiMA) for 3 years and loved it. Noisy and touristy, but it was easy to PABT and west side highway. Could get anywhere pretty fast. I was on a higher floor so it was quiet, being nearer the street might be noisy
OP I’m moving into Hell’s Kitchen very close to there, corner of 9th and 42nd.. definitely gonna be super close to Times Square but I’m justifying it because it’s centrally locates, close to work and subway access for my friends in upper west side/ if I wanna go downtown. Also found rent to be cheaper in this area vs the more desirable places
Only con of the great subway access is most of that access is through PABT or Times Square itself
I was on 48/8 for 3 years loved it but the area did get touristy and crowded. Couldn’t beat how easy to get everywhere though!!
