I’d add rucking for endurance and bodyweight exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, and core work since they’re key in military fitness tests. Also, if you’re not already, mix in sprint intervals to build speed. What branch are you aiming for?
Have a look at the lone soldier program from the British army , also if you have a Garmin or other smart watch they have programs for 5/10km time to improve all round cardio. I wouldn't start with ruck marches unless you can comfortably do a 30mins 5km in trainers and shorts and also can deadlift, squat and bench press between 50-75% of your bodyweight. A good kettlebell exercise program can be found on YouTube , and also don't forget your basics like swimming, climbing rope, and pressups and pullups. Strength and conditioning circuits and also rowing machines are great, look at MAC ,maximal aerobic capacity which is interval training. And great to improve your vo2 max
I don't know where you live, but in every state there is a group called "F3". It is a free workout group for men. They meet early in the morning (0500, usually, or 515) and they meet outdoors at local parks, or schools. The boot camps are 45 minutes, but fairly intense, based on the military PT model. You will push yourself harder when there are others around you to keep you accountable. It's a great organization and a lot of the men are former military or college athletes. It will help you get in shape for the military, I guarantee it. https://f3nation.com/
People are going to give you a massive range of advice, starting from the basic to full blown PT Courses.
Military training is designed to bring you up to the required fitness. Training before hand simply makes that journey easier.
If you want to go in somewhat prepared. Simply get running on a regular basis. Work on your upper body and get good and push ups, sit ups and burpees (youll be doing them a lot)
On a more advanced level. Like others have said, put 15 kilos into a rucksack and go walking. Increase the distance slowly and make sure you rest and stretch.
Try putting yourself out of your comfort zone as you’ll be put in that position a lot, and knowing how to get through that will get you through the entirety of your training.
Just believe in yourself, push hard and best of luck!
You're on a decent track. How soon and what MOS?
You can also join a good crossfit gym which will check all of your fitness blocks and help you score high on the Army's fitness test.
