A couple months ago, I was promoted to mid-level designer and was given a raise that I believe was less than I should've received. I discussed it with my director, who also believed I should've gotten more and told me to connect with HR about it. I never actually got to meet with HR because they didn't respond to my first appointment request and then I went on vacation, returned, got swamped on projects, etc. Any advice for negotiating raise with HR (rather than your boss who knows your work)?

Wondering whether anybody’d be interested in some kind of more purposeful community- i.e., gathering w/fellow lawyers to pursue some specific mental health & well-being goals? We’d provide some counseling/coaching type content, in bite sized chunks, but have regular discussions to connect & encourage one another on applying the content IRL.

Any attorneys here with ADHD/ADD? I was recently diagnosed ADHD, but it was clear I had it my whole life. It did not materially hinder me until law school, and now it’s pretty debilitating as an associate. Since I have been medicated, some executive functioning has been better but it’s really hit or miss. Anyone have any success stories? Would in-house be easier to manage as there is less executive functioning (ie no timekeeping and billing)? I appreciate any response in advance. Thanks!

After nine months, I'm still not used to working as a salaried employee. Ten years of hourly work and simply making sacrifices for my employer have really trained me to be a work machine. Now, I'm able to take a day off for a needed dental procedure, but I can't stop the anxiety from bubbling up. I know it's silly, but somehow it's been ingrained in me that a good work ethic means always being at work when scheduled unless I'm literally contagious. Help.

I lateralled into biglaw from a compliance job a couple of months ago because I was given a "too good to be true" opportunity (2 years out of law school), and I have regretted it ever since. Has anyone successfully left biglaw after one year and gone in house or boutique? (Please no nasty comments, we all make mistakes when that much money is involved). I can afford the pay cut thankfully, just worried about the ability to find work.

Curious: When working at home (Nights or Weekends)… Are you more productive or do you enjoy having a desktop versus a laptop? I love my laptop but sometimes I find myself wishing I was at the office on my big screen. Thinking of getting a desktop for home but also understand that it may be a mega waste of money. Anyone else struggle with this?

Any tips on leaving a firm “correctly”? Was about to go “of counsel” with my firm of 6 years, but then another firm whose partners I really respect (and personally like) offered me a partnership position. I predict my current bosses will *flip* (cut off file access immediately, try to beat me to calling my clients, etc.), so how do I set myself up for a successful transition?

A lot of people complain about millennials but a Gen Z clerk just told me that she wasn’t going to download some documents from a deal site because they were so many (and she had to download one document at a time) and I should review them directly on the site.
