Right now, I’m only using billboards and social media for marketing. I’ve met with so many marketing companies that swear they can increase the number of cases I sign through SEO. As a new solo, I’m very cautious about signing up with one of these companies. Has anybody had a positive SEO experience?

I mean if you can afford to throw your money away at old school marketing techniques like billboards i dont see why you wouldnt throw it at SEO......

like

Billboards are good if you are morgan and morgan and can fill up an entire highway for name recognition...otherwise you're just burning money. I'll gladly take the money lol..... SEO is kind of the same just on the internet. Unless you're spending $4k/m for a year, you're likewise blowing money.

I don’t have a great answer regarding SEO but my husband is in marketing and he DESPISES billboards. There are no analytics for them (part of the reason he hates them), but it’s unlikely your ROI is very high. He does use SEO in his marketing but unless the company can get you in the top 5 of a Google search, it may not be very helpful. With that being said, it’s probably better than a billboard. Do you maintain your own website? If so, there are likely plugins to assist with SEO

Does anybody have a resource available for pricing and billing? I am 2 years out of law school, working as a corporate attorney, and wanting to go solo. I would like to draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents, but would like a resource that has boilerplate provisions to utilize as a reference.

I'm entering my final year of law school but am going part time since I work full time as a paralegal. I have been a paralegal for more 10+ years and I want to open my own firm after I pass the bar.

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. Has anyone done this right out of law school? Any advice?

We are a firm of 5 transactional attorneys and the bonus structure is very unclear. The usual “based on personal performance and firm profitability” language. I wonder how this is calculated in general. What is the percentage bracket of the bonus? Assume it is a high performance 9+ year attorney and the firm is profitable (even with COVID). The based salary is low $120k. Firm is in Tx. I’d love to hear your comments.

Advice for Of Counsel roles? I am of counsel at a firm where I can set my own rate and keep a percentage of collections, which varies slightly depending on whether the client is one I generated or not. I’m finding that a lot of my work is for firm clients where the lawyer negotiated a flat fee (and the hours worked are less, due to efficiency etc). What is the right way for me to be compensated in this scenario?

What is a good way to gain experience in other areas of law as a solo practitioner? What areas of law are best for maintaining a work-life balance?
