Was rolled off a project after 3-4mnths by my RL. Was on a Workstream that had core activities picking up from months 7/8 and was told project doesn’t seem to b a fit for me. At the Same time I have multi tasked on another project with exceptional value delivered and rave reviews and commendations from the Director and Partner on that project. What should I expect going forward? Am up for promo in 6months

You are saying you got some bad feedback from a project that rolled you off due to non-fit but got great feedback from another project, so you are wondering about your year-end review? It depends on how much your bad project wants to screw you up or they think you are fine it’s just a mismatch.
Hardly had a deliverable as my Workstream which I lead is yet to commence any major input. Was asked to deliver a draft doc so discussions can proceed and had delivered d doc. Had a few errors on doc though but was told d project wasn’t a fit for me and being rolled off. I have been 120-130% utilization for the past 5/6months and worried about my milestone as the engagement partner is my RL
Basically reading your story straight is that you will be on bench between 3/4 and 7/8 months. Given the end of the year and year end coming ya way ending in April of next year - CRTs might be tricky. You should clarify this with RL and make sure that you are not screwed. Also, one question that baffles me is if you are on a project from different workstream why were you placed in that workstream in the first place? Which practice are you from?
Am not going to be on the bench for the next 5-6 months the Partner on the other project has made it clear to me that am a first choice on any of his upcoming projects and many are white lined up. I think my real ask is: how much of a say or influence does a partner or engagement lead on another project or practice have on your RL when it comes to promotions and recommendations. I have exceptional ratings from these
I don't know what level you are. But first lesson of consulting is don't always wait for projects to come up just because partner from other project said it. Until and unless SOW is signed and you get a start date everything is in air. Secondly, feedback from any project has influence on Your promo decisions by RL. But if the work you did in those projects are not aligned to your practice or workstream's goal you might be affected.
I single handedly won an extension for the firm on the current engagement and that has been signed off. The other projects have also been signed up and basically discussing which am going to be most value adding to. I was on 2/3 project at the same time and have >110% untilization
To answer your question:- your RL has 100% say on your promotion at your level. Your other partner could be a contributor but your RL will make the call especially if it is in a different group. Your best bet is to change groups to the other who is supporting you.
Pwc1 is right to a point. If the partner on the engagement rolled you off is more senior than your RL - which you can now tell by going through workday - that partner can override your RL’s assessment. Sorry.
