Seriously, where are people actually finding finance jobs right now? LinkedIn is full of fake ads and is otherwise a ghost town, Indeed is full of outdated listings, and internal referrals seem to be the only thing working. I’ve been networking, applying, and even trying recruiters, but the market just feels frozen. If you’ve recently landed a job in finance, where did you find the opportunity?

You can haunt company web sites and see what jobs are posted. But it's probably inescapable that things are pretty much stuck. There's a lot of negative sentiment and a lot of places are not in a mood to do much hiring. However, people do move around, so there will be openings. Stay persistent, that's always the key.

Speak with recruiters - they always have jobs available that aren't listed publicly. Good, real jobs tend to not be posted, as companies (esp private small firms) prefer to have a recruiter do the vetting and seeking for good talent.

Honestly, referrals are king right now. I landed my current role through an old coworker who put me in touch with a hiring manager. If you haven’t already, reach out to everyone—former colleagues, classmates, even people from networking events you barely remember. The hidden job market is real.

I need help figuring out if I’m being underpaid. I’m working in real estate private equity and I focus on fund models and property valuations. I’m currently at base $80k and 20% bonus. On top of that I have 5 years experience and a masters in finance. I’m good at my job and receive positive reviews from everyone. I feel like I should be compensated better but the company says that’s what they think I’m worth. Any help or insights would be great!

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
