Should the police hire ex or current care-community workers (social workers, therapists, counselors etc) to be officers? Imagine what police encounters could look like if the team was made up of people who understood de escalation, poverty, cultural differences and trauma/addiction before they went through their police training.

YES. And they should be paid well and get mandatory paid training whenever new relevant information is discovered or they find a gap in their knowledge. In a perfect world they would have also lived and worked in the community they serve in for 5+ years.

Social workers should collaborate with the police but be self-governed. They should have their own funding and command structure. You can't help people if you are a member of the same system that oppresses them.

This is a really interesting idea and I'm all for it except I have questions about the differences in duty and the types of training this new resource would require

In my location, a mental health response/crisis team was established to attend to calls rather than police officers when appropriate. It's a fantastic concept and effort, in my opinion.

We have a mobile response team available for LEOs to use, which is managed by a separate organization that offers MH services in our region and can rapidly refer.

I believe it's a fantastic concept that is much needed in the United States. In New Jersey, there is an initiative called Crisis Intervention Training, where police departments, municipalities, and prosecutors attend a week-long training where they learn mental health first aid and how to recognize and approach a mental health crisis if they are called to a scene.

I work for our county's mental health authority, and we have a staff of QMHP case managers that do this! It's really useful for those calls where this is required, especially for regular travelers. These cops have received additional training than ordinary CIT officers.

I’m a current part time police officer who works in tech. I just got accepted into an MSW program. Plan is to leave tech and go into private practice. I want to provide therapy for first responders and veterans.

Got to a modeling round for a PE Firm and it’s later today. Really like the people but not a big fan of the investment strategy. Wondering if withdrawing from the process right now would hurt my relationship with the HH’s?

I’m working with them for a few firms I’m way more interested in but aren’t kicking off for the next week or two. Should I just do the model test and withdraw, or would beforehand work as well? Any insight would be helpful

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

What misconceptions do you think people have about social work? or therapy?
Mine is my family still believes that only "sick" or unhappy people need to see a therapist, so they don't understand why I go to one since I have a job and a family. It's oldschool thinking and pretty annoying tbh.
