This happens all the time ...just thank him and tell you feel grateful and humbled , and you got an opportunity that fits more your career goals and the main reason you did considered joining the bank was because you wanted to work with him , etc.
Just be a man and tell him the the truth
You don't get to have it both ways. You made a commitment and you're breaking it. Enjoy the new job, but don't expect the people you originally committed to to be pleased.
"Family / private reasons" is usually the only explanation that leaves room for keeping relationship intact. As long as it's credible.
The role isn't anything amazing, but I like the director, the company has a good brand and the role may open up further opportunities in the future.
Recently, I received another offer for another firm which I like (great role, great pay and great exit opps). I've made my mind up and concluded that I don't want to join the bank that I've signed an offer for and want to join this new firm I have an offer from.
How do I go about explaining this to the Director that I'll no longer be joining his team and somehow try to still main a good relationship with him (or leave on a good note)?
He will not be happy no matter what but you have to watch out for #1
Use the family reason and so not necessarily update your LinkedIn right away.
Thanks guys. What type of family/private reasons could one use as an excuse to not join a firm?
