Is making SA just luck? This LA role is first non-executive role in 5 years and pays $40k less but I love the firm and have room to grow for once. 2 years in I'm not even close to SA. Am I a bad fit?

Maybe Patience is your issue and leadership sees it. 2 years is not enough time. Would you rather be promoted and then get lack of worked if promoted too soon. My advise quit focus on what everyone else gets and focus on your case. I suggest you talk to your leadership about creating a plan for promotion. By the way my Principal got passed over 3 years in a row after waiting 10 years to get on the short list.

Eh. It's not that I have to do the fixing myself but our SAs are massively over committed and drop a lot of balls. I provided examples to one of my principals and several outside SAs (far junior to me) were hired. Great example of how my promotion would help the firm; after several months of trying to pitch a solution to a problem and getting no traction with leadership but plenty with my peers, a plan I outlined in detail to a SA was put in action and although he literally did nothing beyond forwarded my email to a LA to execute, he gave me zero credit and is now championed as the one who solved the issue. Took months more to solve because nobody with clout was driving it.

2 years is not enough time to become SA OP! I know LA that have been for maybe 5 years. It takes time to start growing business

I appreciate that. I've seen some quick promotions on my team. SA is much closer to what I was doing. Year before I started I won $30M in new business. Year before that $20M. Here I'm having trouble getting on proposals because we're only doing "big bets" so it's mostly SA and above. Tried going rogue and VP shut me down on an opp we no-bid for lack of resources. Patience is not a virtue of mine.

This might be philosophical but wanted to understand if we should get satisfied and be happy with what we have or keep striving for more?
