Not a meme, but I too need a suit like that.

Generally, not bad. The principles are pretty solid, live on less than you make, avoid debt, etc.
However, you definitely need more than $1000 in an emergency fund, and paying off your mortgage rather than investing doesn't make sense math mathematically for most people. Also his "don't invest in bonds" idea is kind of ridiculous since investing in bonds makes a lot of sense depending on someone's goals.
TLDR; Ramsey's like a 6/10

Great points especially about emergency fund
Also worth noting to my points above - Dave Ramsey has never been a licensed financial advisor, he's literally just a guy on the radio. Once you start having a larger net worth or more complicated investment strategy, it makes more sense to listen licensed advisors. Personally, I'm more of a fan of The Money Guy show on YouTube
For folks who lift weights, he's the starting strength of the finance world or the department store suit. It's a good baseline to have you go from inept to competent enough to end up in crippling debt, which is generally good enough for the average person.
Beyond that, there are better pieces of advice for financially sophisticated investors, those who arent reckless with their money etc
I think he does make some good points, and some of it is outdated. Unfortunately for many living pay check to pay check, his methods aren't realistic. This economy is horrible and so is the job market.

Yeeeep.
He has not updated the emergency fund amount since he started. With inflation the number would be almost $2,500 now.
Also, paying off the mortgage before investing makes no sense for the vast majority of people.
That being said, he has done a lot of good for a lot of people who need help getting started... like training wheels on a bike. I can't imagine that any HNW or UHNW people would follow his investment strategy though.
I think his stuff is a very good baseline for people that don't have a great understanding of how to get started with their finances or are trying to dig themselves out of a hole. For people that are good with finances, some of the advice isn't as applicable (using credit cards, utilizing debt, etc.)

Very true. I love using credit cards for points or cash back.

Very helpful for beginners but not overly sophisticated.
Dave is about debt, not financial or wealth, unless you’re talking about his wealth.
