Or, alternatively, you could tell them, explain that compensation below market is one of the reasons you're considering this opportunity, and make a case for your desired salary. That's what I just did and got a 42% base salary increase and a huge signing bonus.
Don't expect top notch pay from Slalom, however, because they balance the pay with the fact that you're usually not traveling.
If they are recruiting you, I’d tell them your potential decision to leave your current firm is based upon their offer, not your current pay.
If you are trying to join them, then you don’t have a ton of negotiating room.
Absolutely. Be honest. Salary is easily verifiable.
High Risk, High Reward
You explain that it's not something you'd be comfortable revealing at this stage
Do you live in CA? If so, employers can not legally ask you for compensation info anymore
Don't reveal. Tell them you'd like to keep it confidential since it's still early in the process
I would check to see if they require a paystub as proof before lying
Are you Advisory or Consulting? I am going on 3rd year SC and I make so much less 😥
I wouldn't lie. Give a range if you want but clearly call it a range. Btw, you just told all of us, why wouldn't you tell the recruiter.
DD1 - I've never heard of having to submit pay slips
Read advice on here once that said something to the effect of "well, it would take $X for me to consider leaving my current position." Not sure how it's actually worked for folks but sounded good to me
Don't give away anything, unless you are desperate or they are being absolutely adamant and threaten to stop the process. I have been in your situation and made the mistake of giving away a number because I was desparate, and it was nothing but trouble from there. Be aware that they may ask for paychecks as evidence later (deloitte does this).
I wouldn’t lie either, in my experience if you get the offer you’ll have to submit pay slips and you don’t want to start off on the wrong foot. Unless I’m the only one who was asked for pay slips after accepting the offer.
Id do what m2 says. I'd just explain that I am aware I am under market, and hence while I am asking for a sizable percentage raise from my current salary, I believe it is completely fair and what I should be making for my role
There's no way for the recruiter to verify your salary.
I had to submit 10 years of W2s. Not just pay statements. Not just this or last year. It was a SHITTY employer.
Don’t lie, recruiter can’t verify salary but they can easily look that up when going through background check if you accept an offer
Just say that's your new salary after raise starting next month
Never heard of slalom asking for pay stubs. But that could vary by office.
Say you are going to make 115 next year after raise and before bonus. Yell them the raise is all but guaranteed since you are a tier 1 super rock star this year
