OMD is a media company. Do you think that they ‘bought’ this? They have packages of media and just used one billboard. it’s literally what they sell.
That aside, it probably would have saved 0.0004 jobs.
Stop this “omg omg they spent this i wonder how much jobs this would have saved” argument. You can literally say this about every advertiser who spends money on advertising or anything really.
Sounds like someone from the Omnicom C suite

I will preface saying that ad agencies (or any company) only cares about shareholders and don't give a damn about our jobs. This is old news.
But we do advertising, right? the thing that we tell the world about a product/service benefits and why people should care and that makes people spend money on said product/service. The same goes for ad agencies. This is not pure bragging. This is the agency creating importance for it's services to attract more clients or talent... so it's an investment. Your client have a marketing budget, right? So does your agency.
Also media agencies get favors from media outlets all the time. For them, it's like that tote bag producers get from the sound company, or that swag an artist send to a creative.
It's not exactly free but it doesn't cost anyone's salary.

Quick, OP. Say “YoU mUsT bE fRoM oMnIcOm c-SuItE”.
And if you get the answer to that fascinating question what will change?
“they got it for free”
Nothing is free in this life
If you have to ask, it is more than your annual salary.
But it is necessary. If no one knows what we do, then we will have no clients. In this scenario, none of us agency-side would be employed.
Which is worse? Needing to lay off a few employees to stay afloat or laying off all employees?
Stop hatin’
Ad agency ( ok media agency) putting out an ad about itself seems appropriate. If ad agency’s don’t believe in advertising themselves then where do they get off telling someone they should advertise with them.
