Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
When does wfh end in EY GDS?
He is accepting notes.

First off, congratulations! Now, on to your question. Companies have made arbitrary decisions as to who qualifies for maternity leave and at what point in their employment. Keep that in mind going in to your conversation. Your manager and HR could simply decide that they’re willing to invest in you, and offer you the full maternity package (or whatever they have currently - arbitrarily - decided goes to FT employees who’ve been there at least a year). When you’re comfortable to disclose your pregnancy, go to them with what you’d like to have happen and offer to sign whatever “retention agreement” they need you to sign for you to show your commitment in them, and so they can be certain of a return on their “investment” in you. Now, if they say no, or their “hands are tied” you know what kind of employer they are and you can feel comfortable looking for a job elsewhere, bc they sure as shit aren’t going to be any better of an employer once you have a kid and need different types of flex arrangement. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your thorough reply!! Very helpful
I started a new job while 12 weeks pregnant. I know it feels like you’re the only mama who’s ever had to have this convo but you’re not alone. Put on your big girl maternity mama panties and ask for everything that you think you’ll want or need. You can do this!
It depends. Some places only provide paid maternity leave after a year, some places will waive that if you ask and other places provide benefits that kick in immediately.
I fell pregnant my first week of work but still managed to get 4.5 months maternity leave with only 1 month of it unpaid. Does your agency allow you to roll over your PTO or have unlimited PTO?
Publicis didn’t roll my 2 different Publicis agencies time together as there was too much time in between them 🙄
Congratulations!! Wish you the best!
You’re not covered for FMLA
