Read it in conjunction with all other things that CM1 said above, it paints such a bleak picture. No recourse. No alternatives. Just plain challenging. What's coming? Birthright is a big one and a ton of operational hurdles.
Spouse will be taking a sabbatical from today as EAD has been filed with H4, three months ago and it will take another 3 months post expiry. Nothing we could do, no premium. Such an emotional toll on her to lose the job for no fault of her. We have been trying for kids, clinically with no avail for years now, and the job was her solace.
Brother is getting married early next year and no mobility for me as Visa appointments are rare and risky. Battling a lot.
Let's not even go into the rocky job market. Taking on more and more and more and more at work just to have some security. And reading all these anti-indian, anti-immigrant comments on Fox and X that Indians are not good. Hurting myself to no end on all fronts.

Thank you both. Sometimes I feel very alone in my struggles but your comments give me some solace.

Just making life difficult…. Visa is a privilege and not right (which I agree with) but for legal immigrants who have gone through the grind, followed all the rules, have done biometrics so many times - it is a shame that the attitude now is in your face. Stopping automatic extension is fine but then give the approval in 2-3 months…!

With all these hardships and challenges that I agree keep rising by the day, the desire for most of us to somehow continue here just goes to show that India really has so many problems on the ground. I really wouldn't fault say someone from South Korea, a first world country albeit with relatively limited opportunities, just wanting to say goodbye and be done with this. But for any developing and below countries, it just does not add up. I can say we need to find a way to tide thru this for the next few years. Job hug as much as possible, be meticulous with financial planning, focus on cost control, just cut out international travel to India only when needed like maybe once in the next 3 years.
It’s not stopping after next 3 years.
This is the template for the GOP and a significant voter base here. If you are counting on this template flipping just like that and suddenly everything flips, good luck.
I second that. Just trying to make everything difficult. Like stamping for H1B only in home country/specific cities for visa types, appointments apart, etc.
