I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

Mentorship is just another buzzword firms throw around to make juniors feel seen. No one’s going to “notice” you—go make them.

Just ask someone to have lunch or coffee with you. My experience is that the really busy ones are often also really invested, and willing to make the effort.
Rising Star
This. You’re looking for two things, and it may come from two different people. First, someone senior whose career path you want to follow and who you naturally get along with. This is the person who gives you general career advice, next steps, and reality checks (when you think you just messed up horribly or hit it out of the park). Second is the person who has the practical/practice knowledge you want. This is likely whoever reviews your work and gives you feedback on a regular basis. If you don’t have one of these, invest time in trying to figure out the solution for the next problem you have, and take that to your senior. Your job is try to make their life easier so they have a smidge of time to invest back into growing you.
